Organic sales grew 2x the rate of conventional products in 2024

Sales of organic products accelerated at their fastest pace in four years in 2024, driven by increasing consumer demand for healthful foods and foods that are free from pesticides and certain additives, according to the Organic Trade Association.

The OTA estimated that organic sales were up 5.2% last year, more than doubling the 2.4% pace of conventional grocery sales. Organic food sales totaled $65.4 billion and sales of organic non-food products totaled $6.2 billion, for a combined total of $71.6 billion, according to the OTA’s 2025 Organic Market Report.

Study links organic food consumption to better cognitive function in older adults

Older adults who eat more organic food tend to have better cognitive performance, according to a new study published in the European Journal of Nutrition. The researchers also found that organic food consumption was associated with a reduced risk of mild cognitive impairment among women, but not among men.

Organic grocery store set to open new East Bay location

Sprouts Farmers Market is opening its first Pittsburg location in a couple of months. 

The organic grocery store opens on June 27 with a three-day grand opening from June 27 to June 29. On the starting and second days, the first 200 shoppers will take a free reusable bag with samples home. The first 400 will get a free Falcon Farms Floral long-stem rose on the day of the grand opening.
