Why is it important for your brand to celebrate Earth Month and how are you celebrating throughout the month?
Earth Month is a meaningful reminder of our company’s ongoing commitment to the health of our planet. At Frontier Co-op, we offer a full line of products for natural living under the Frontier Co-op, Simply Organic and Aura Cacia Healthy water, soil, and ecosystems are essential to our ability to continue to provide these high-quality culinary ingredients and botanical wellness solutions in the future.
This year, we’re marking the moment by launching our 2025 Doing Good, Works Impact Report, which reflects on the incredible progress we’ve made over the last year and looks ahead to what’s next as we celebrate our co-op’s 50th anniversary in 2026.

What does your brand do to help create a healthier environment and to treat the planet more respectfully everyday?
Our USDA Organic and Regenerative Organic Certified® product lines are core to how we’re rethinking food systems from the ground up. Regenerative organic agricultural practices can transform soil health, improve biodiversity, and restore ecosystems. Beyond that, these certifications include premiums for farmers that allow consumers to vote with their dollars to build a more just and resilient world.
Most spices are grown by smallholder farmers, meaning they operate on less than 2 hectares of land. These farmers are especially vulnerable to the impact of climate change and climate-related natural disasters. Certifications like Regenerative Organic Certified® help these farmers and their communities become more stable and resilient in the face of these challenges.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about organic?
Organic is about much more than what ends up on your plate – it’s about the broader connection between our food, our health, and the world around us. Because USDA Organic certified food is produced without harmful pesticides and fertilizers, chemical preservatives, or antibiotics, it offers a cleaner alternative for those who prefer to keep these inputs out of their food and their homes. Just as importantly, it supports the health and livelihoods of the people who grow and process our food, and the communities where they live and work.
Why is it important for your brand to be organic?
Organic agriculture provides farmers premiums to support responsible means of production for their crops, and organic agricultural practices help protect the long-term health of farming communities and the environment. Organic has been woven into Frontier Co-op’s DNA since our founding in 1976, and further solidified when we launched the 100% certified, always organic Simply Organic brand in 2002. As part of that decades-long commitment, we offer shoppers responsibly grown, organic and Regenerative Organic Certified® options through our family of brands that they know can trust.
What does organic do to make the planet healthier?
According to the Organic Trade Association (OTA), organic agricultural practices are better for the environment in a myriad of ways, like:
-
- Generating healthier soils & protecting groundwater
- Conventional farming uses synthetic pesticides and fertilizers which harm beneficial microorganisms and lead to long-term soil degradation. By instead using natural methods like composting and crop rotations to manage pests, organic farmers help to nourish the soil and prevent harmful chemicals from running off into our waterways.
- Lower energy and carbon impact versus conventional farms
- Organic farming also has a significantly lower carbon footprint than conventional, as USDA Organic standards prohibit the use of synthetic chemicals – which are often made using fossil fuels.
- Generating healthier soils & protecting groundwater
