Why is it important for your brand to celebrate Earth Month and how are you celebrating throughout the month?

Willa’s started with a simple conviction: you shouldn’t have to choose between what’s good for you, what’s good for the planet, and what’s good for business.

We created Willa’s to prove you can have all three, and make it taste better, too.

Our goal has never been just to build a business that is net neutral. Willa’s goals are to have a net positive impact in everything we do.

What does your brand do to help create a healthier environment and to treat the planet more respectfully everyday?

Willa’s uses certified organic, non-GMO ingredients, including oats which are a cover crop, improve soil health and are a carbon sequestor, helping to draw carbon out of the atmosphere and send it into the soil where it belongs.

While other oat milks process oats down to syrup and throw away 20–30% of what’s left, Willa’s uses the whole oat, like steel-cut oats. Nothing filtered. Nothing discarded. Because when food waste is one of the biggest drivers of climate change (as highlighted by Project Drawdown), wasting perfectly good nutrition isn’t just inefficient. It’s irresponsible.

With Willa’s you get a richer, smoother taste, less sugar and all of the protein and fiber. Nothing good is wasted.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about organic? This can be something that is often misunderstood.

Organic is just as important to environmental health as it is for human health! Buying organic ingredients helps restore soil health, water quality, and ecosystems. By buying an organic, glyphosate free oat milk, you’re making a better choice for your health as well as for the health of future generations.

Why is it important for your brand to be organic?

Conventional oats are one of the most heavily sprayed crops, including with glyphosate. The same is true of other plant based milk ingredients like soy, peas, and even nuts. It’s also true of cacao, which Willa’s uses in our award winning chocolate milks. That makes it even more critical Willa’s uses oats that are certified organic and glyphosate-free.

What does organic do to make the planet healthier?

Organic is often associated with what it removes. What it also does is RESTORES. The heavy use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides in traditional farming is harmful to soil quality, which is at the core of plant and wildlife ecological health. Synthetic chemicals like these are a large cause of pollution in our lakes and rivers due to farming runoff, which harms the biodiversity of aquatic life and overall water quality and safety.

Choosing organic for grains, soy, meat, dairy and the dirty dozen are not just supporting your family’s health, they can help reverse climate change!

How can consumers celebrate Earth Month?

The headlines can make it feel like nothing you do matters. They are wrong. Earth Month isn’t about doing everything. It’s about choosing something.

Something you can do that has an impact is supporting and sharing brands that are moving things forward for our health and the health of our planet! Shop companies that reduce waste, protect soil, and rethink how food is made, like Willa’s Organic.

That’s how together we are shifting the food system.
